2nd Quarterly Report
Structure of my next quarterly report will be accordingly: From August, September, October. (The deadline for this report will be around end of October).
3) Review of Performance goals: My current performance is not quite up to standard and several areas for development in proactiveness at work: ( Also get a careers book to faking it in terms of confidence - copy Funmi in here approach to work & life).
Good Points: Quality of Written Communication and Report Writing is high - perhaps there is a need to shift career towards this side of things ( possible switch to pre planning ensure I am doing reports and need to ask to do reports as needed as per the work as well as structural work to complement my learning. ( Play the work place to my advantage).

Pin Jointed Truss Analysis & Design
1) Truss and Tie Model ( Compression = Truss, Tension = Tie).
Truss / Strut = Compression
Tie = Tension
Statically Determinate structure must satisfy:
Pratt Truss
2j = m + 3
j = no. of joints
m = no. of members
For the Pratt Truss above no of joints = 10, no. of members = 17
2 (10) = 17 + 3
Therefore as expected the Pratt Truss is statically determinant.

Section Properties
Section Properties are extremely useful when trying to determine section capacities:
Given the relationship of M/I = Sigma/y
I is useful and is the second moment of area: Which reflects the how points are distributed with regard to an arbitrary axis.
Ixx = bd^3/12 + Ah^2
Ie Sum of Ixx = Sum of Ixx + Sum of A(y*bar-y)^2
or
Iyy = Sum of Iyy + Sum of A(x*bar - x)^2
Use of the parallel axis theorem to find second moment area of an axis.
Quarterly Report
My target as set for work is to produce a quarterly report for the end of July ( 31st July).
In order to do this I am going to set out some of the things prerequisite for the quarterly report.
Joy Global Bucks Bridge Contract – has been worked on
Attended meeting for Kings Cross Bridge Structure
Blackwall Tunnel Roof Metal Motor Design Project
Solve Model been down for the design
COC1033a Bridge Project – Load Take Down for this
Load Capacity worked out for various components of COC1033a Bridge Project
Balfour Beatty Rail – 001 Thameslink K02 - London Bridge Gantry Project Inspection of Bridge Organised – Gap Analysis and Created Solve Model for the following Project -
Tensile Capacity of a Screw worked out
CrossRail - Havier
Rail Project to be done on this project - Dilesh
For the Joy Global contract, I was assigned to perform a Cat xx check on the Bridge project – since this was my first assignment and no specific procedure had been given to follow the aim of the exercise was to follow the procedure as per the guidelines. To apply the works accordingly and try to come up with a relevant procedure as needed for the works.
Historical drawings were used to check the initial assumptions of the project as required. 1) Thing such as the skew of the bridge ie at 20 degrees was verified. The dimensions of the individual elements. The main factor here was the conversion from feet – centimetres (imperial to metric) conversion was used here to ensure that verification of the members.
Initial assumptions were checked for the structure to check the calculations in the excel spreadsheet were done accordingly. One of the factors was to use a short method to check things such as the maximum bending moment of the structure.
Load Path to be checked of the structure
Dimensions verified
Assumptions checked ( skew of bridge)
Live Loading ( As per client demands)
Design Codes used and went through to clarify the structure and what is needed to be done
Some truck loadings were non-standard
